Raleigh, North Carolina

Gabriella Corter is a Raleigh artist whose work is focused on nature, with subject matter focusing on animals and the difficulties that have co-existing with humanity.  She holds a degree in paitning from the Ontario College of Art and Design.

Corter uses the perspectives inherent in wood grain as backdrops for subjects. Carefully selected wood grain designs can be highlighted with sheer colored oil paint to appear as water, desert terrain, sky or even mountain ranges. Depending on scale and placement of objects upon the wood they can appear in close foreground, in distant background or in sky.
