Rebus Works is pleased to present EPIC BATTLE by Casey Porn and David Eichenberger. This exhibition opens on April 3 with a First Friday reception (featuring music by Starmount) from 6 - 10 p.m. The exhibition continues through Saturday, May 30.
From flaming architectural robots to small dogs and creatures in between, EPIC BATTLE brings new paintings by Casey Porn and David Eichenberger. Porn and Eichenberger are a natural pairing, exhibiting bodies of work that complement each other -- witty and done well.
EPIC BATTLE is an exploration of the battles with and within nature. Eichenberger paints man's battle with nature, as evidenced in man-made (and destructive) robots, while Porn's graphic paintings illustrate the struggle to survive, specifically depicting endangered species as warriors.
Of her work in EPIC BATTLE, Porn writes:
I’m pretty sure that animals are people too. Since they can’t talk, I have taken it upon myself to tell their stories. For the Epic Battle series, I’m exploring the plight of endangered animals in an ongoing battle for survival against natural predators and man made situations. Adorned in modern and ancient combat gear, my warriors become fallen heroes, ill equipped to take on the epic forces beyond their control.
